YOUTH COUNCIL ELECTIONS

Elections were held July 17, 2010, for the Youth Council. The five youth chosen were Alana Terry, Alyssa Stemen, Daniel Arant, Hannah McNulty, and Philip Hatfield. The President of the Council was selected by the council members and is Daniel Arant. The President is responsible for organizing the Council's meetings and making sure everything continues to run smoothly. Council positions are for a one-year term. The Council Advisor is Nita Hatfield. Again, the Council was formed to bring together ideas for the youth group and to ensure that activities are planned and held for all youth to enjoy.

CAR WASH FUNDRAISER

We are finally going to do our fall car wash! The plan is to do it Saturday, August 21, 2010, from 10:00AM to 3:00PM at the Burger King on Harding Highway. Plan to arrive at the Burger King around 8:45 to help set up. Please let one of the Council members know if you are coming. We still need another pressure washer, buckets, rags, sponges and anything else you think we could use for the car wash! For questions or more information contact any of the Council members.

MEETINGS WITH BRO. KIDRI

The youth group was able to enjoy two services with Bro. Kidri Diggs. The meetings were Friday, August 6, and Saturday, August 7, 2010. Both meetings were wonderful and life-changing. Friday night the presence of the Lord filled the Barn with a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Many hearts and lives were touched and changed in that service. Great testimonies have come and will continue to come from the special meetings with Bro. Diggs.

TRI-STATE YOUTH MEETING

Sunday, August 15, 2010, at 6:00PM is the next Tri-State Youth Meeting. These meetings are held at the Toledo church. Bro. Barry Coffey will be the visiting minister on the 15th. The Toledo church has changed locations and is now located at 2820 Alexis Rd, Toledo, OH. For directions, or more information you can visit their website at www.literallife.org. All are welcome to come and enjoy a service specifically for young people.

YOUTH COUNCIL AND ELECTIONS

In order for things to happen more quickly in the youth group, as well as give the leaders more time with their families, Bro. Chad has decided to start a youth council. Eight youth have been nominated and from that group five will be elected to the council. Once elected, council members will be responsible for planning fundraisers, keeping track of money, planning youth events and general maintenance in and around the Barn, among other things. The elections for the youth council will be held at the next youth meeting, July 17, 2010. The eight youth nominated are Alana Terry, Alyssa Stemen, Bethany Lavy, Daniel Arant, Hannah McNulty, Jonathan Lewis, Philip Hatfield, and Shannon Thompson. Everyone will receive a ballot with these names on it and will pick the five they would like to see represent the youth group. It would be great if as many youth as possible could make it to this meeting so all the youth group has a chance to cast their opinion.

UNIQUE YOUTH MEETING

The next youth meeting, July 17, 2010, Bro. Ashton Crook has prepared a special presentation for the youth. He will be showing video clips of modern day "prophets" rising up and comparing them to Bro. Branham. Along with the elections that night, this is another terrific reason to get as many youth there as possible. Invite a friend to come with you and we will have lots of food, fun and fellowship together.

SPECIAL SERVICES WITH BRO. KIDRI DIGGS

Bro. Kidri Diggs will be ministering for us on Friday, August 6, 2010, at the Barn of Riches at 7:00 pm. Bro. Diggs has a dynamic ministry relating well with the youth. Guys please bring a drink and girls bring a snack; food and fellowship will follow the service. Bro. Diggs will also be ministering at BCF on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at 7:30 pm.

FUNDRAISERS

Two fundraisers the youth group are considering doing is a car wash and a scrap drive. More details will be coming later once the council is formed, but please keep these in mind and let us know anything else you would be interested in.

NEW YOUTH MEETING SCHEDULE

Starting in April, we will be having two youth meetings a month. The next youth meeting will be on Friday, April 9 at 7PM. The second youth meeting this month will be Saturday, April 24 at 6PM. Beginning in May, the meetings will be as follows: every first Friday of the month at 7PM and consisting of a video/popcorn night; and every third Saturday at 6PM and being a traditional youth meeting with a Bible study and live minister.

OPEN FUN NIGHTS

Bro. Rich would like to open the barn to the youth for informal fun nights. The plan as of now is that on the weekends there is no scheduled youth meeting, the youth could come and hang out and play games. This would not be an official youth meeting, but just a chance for the youth to get together and have fun. We would need parents to come chaperone on these evenings, as Bro. Chad and Bro. Zion would not necessarily be present (since it would not be a formal meeting). Please let us know what you think of this idea.

MISSIONS MONEY

Last year, the youth held a carwash/josesale fundraiser. The funds raised were set aside because no one was sure what should be done with them. This past year a typhoon wreaked havoc in much of the Philippines. One specific church was completely destroyed. Cloverdale Bibleway sent them enough money to set the posts, pillars, and the foundation. They did not have sufficient funds to put a roof on. The money we had raised was just enough to cover the cost of putting on the roof. By the grace of God, they will now have a roof before the rainy season begins. Had we not let our money sit, we would not have been able to help with this need. God indeed works all things for the good.

Bro. Chad will be traveling to the Philippines in May. He will be leaving the first week of May and plans to get back on the 21st. Lord willing, he will get to see the church we helped put the roof on. Please pray for traveling mercies for him.

MARCH WORKDAYS

The youth would like to thank everyone who helped us work on the Barn. Without all the help, we would never have been able to meet the deadline. Because of the outpouring of love and generosity, much was accomplished in time for the Dedication Services.

The Barn couldn’t have become a reality without the dream of Bro. Rich and Sis. Tracey Lavy, the vision Bro. Chad and Bro. Zion has for the youth, and the help of the countless many who sacrificed their time and energy. The youth of BCF are forever grateful, and we pray the Lord richly blesses each and every one of you.

DEDICATION SERVICES

Friday, March 13, 2010 was the first Dedication Service for the Barn of Riches. This first night was open only to BCF youth and all the people who had helped somehow, either with physical labor or donating items. Bro. Jeff Jenkins, our local pastor, was invited to be the opening speaker. In his message, he compared the start of the Pentecostal revival to our meeting. The revival began at the corner of Bonnie Brae Street and Beverly Boulevard, and our meeting was held at the corner of Hume Road and Beeler Road. What a way to prepare our hearts, for the next night the Lord came down in a special, supernatural way.

On Saturday, March 14, Bro. Daniel Andes was the guest speaker for the service. All the youth from area churches were invited to this meeting. Bro. Daniel spoke on the Holy Ghost and how it will change your life. At the close of his sermon, the presence of God swept through the Barn causing many to begin weeping and praying. Youth and parents alike gathered at the front of the room for prayer. Praise the Lord that Bro. Daniel was sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit so many hearts and lives could be touched and changed.

GET MOBILE

All the youth should try to register for Get Mobile. This will allow Bros. Chad or Zion to send out mass texts to all the youth at once. Hopefully, this will improve the communication within the youth group.

CALENDAR UPDATES

The youth are encouraged to check the calendar at least once a week. New events are posted regularly. By checking periodically, you can stay informed.

WORKDAYS

With lots of hard work and much help, our barn is slowly starting to take shape. January 30, 2010 was our first workday. Several walls were knocked out to provide more room in the kitchen and game room areas. Work started at 11:00am and continued until 4:00pm. Along with knocking down the walls, a few pieces of drywall were hung. Several experiences made the day memorable. First of all, shocking everyone present was the girls' intense desire to use the sledgehammer. Bethany Lavy and Beth Thompson led the ladies in this new and adventurous task. Not long after, as the wall between the kitchen and sitting area was being torn down, Philip Hatfield, Seth Herald and John Lewis made a unique discovery. From the ceiling dropped frozen mice, which they used to tease and torture Beth Thompson. The rest of the day continued as planned, with supper being served around 5:00. The day ended on a great note with the showing of the movie, "Sheffy."

Our second workday was on February 20, 2010. This day was filled with painting the interior of the barn. The colors were chosen using a poll on the website. The winning colors were Downing Straw and Tansey Green. The workday started at 10:00am this time, with the hopes that everybody would arrive by 11:00am. Bro. Chad was not to be disappointed, by 11:00am, many of the youth were armed with paint rollers and girded with old clothes. The majority of the painting was finished by 3:00pm. While the ladies were busy painting, the guys stayed busy putting up the last of the drywall. Supper, pizza from Padrone's, was served around 5:15pm and afterward we watched another movie. The plan was to watch Bro. Ed Byskal's testimony from Family Camp in 1999, as most of the youth were too young then to remember it. However, the DVD would not work, so we went to Plan B, which was the Joseph play put on by Cloverdale. With the conclusion of these two work days we are ever closer to getting the barn completed. There is still much yet to be done. March will consist of two workdays: March 6 and March 13. The end of these last two workdays should also be the end of the major remodeling needed, just in time for the Dedication Service.

OUR OFFICIAL LOGO

With the development of an official place to meet along with a name, and a website of our own came a need for our own logo. Much thought went into what we wanted to portray. Most of which was a barn, a cross, and open doors. At the second workday, Daniel Arant received inspiration. He designed a logo, which everyone agreed matched the vision of all present.Thank you to Bro. Zion and Daniel for their help and expertise in designing a logo for the youth group to call their own.

ANNOUNCING DEDICATION SERVICE

On Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 6:00pm all youth 13 and up are invited to come join us to dedicate our new meeting place, The Barn of Riches. The guest minister is Bro. Daniel Andes. Other events include: a small skit, special songs, food, and fellowship. We hope to see you there. If you wish to sing a special or have any questions, contact Bro. Chad Lamb.

SPECIAL THANK YOU

The youth would like to extend a very special thank you to the Lowe's in Wapakoneta, Ohio. Through the help of one of their employees and a member of BCF, Jay Phillips, we were able to get a discount for all of the paint and supplies needed. A letter explaining our situation was given to the manager of Lowe's through Jay Phillips, and we were given a charitable organization discount. This means that we were able to order all of our supplies at 10% over-cost.Thank you to Wapakoneta Lowe's and all of its helpful employees!
